Camp Where You Want, Set Up in Minutes
Ground tents mean hunting for flat, dry, rock-free ground, then pegging, poling and unpacking. A hard shell rooftop tent lives on your car. You park, release the latches, and the tent opens. You climb the ladder and you're in bed, off the ground and away from the mud.
The Model AA135 is a hard shell design with an aluminium shell and quick automatic opening. When you're done, it folds down flat on the roof.
What You Get
- Quick automatic opening. A straight-bracing hard shell designed for fast setup and pack-up.
- Aluminium hard shell. A PU-coated aluminium shell that folds down to just 16 cm high on the roof.
- Weather protection. The tent fabric and the floor are rated above 3000 mm waterproof, and the fabric is UV50+.
- Tough fabric. Polyester-cotton and 600D Oxford fabric with a PU coating.
- Comfortable sleeping. A 5.5 cm memory foam mattress with a flannelette cover.
- Room inside. An inner space of 125 × 232 × 120 cm.
- 2.3 m ladder with a ladder bag.
- Two LED light bars built in.
- Fits many vehicles. Designed for SUVs, 4x4s, Jeeps and pickups that have a roof rack.
Check Your Fit
Rooftop tents are heavy and sit high, so fit matters more than with most accessories. Run through all of these before you order.
- Roof rack or crossbars. The tent mounts to a rack. Your vehicle needs a roof rack or crossbars suitable for a rooftop tent.
- Load ratings. Check two things: your vehicle's roof load limit and your rack's rated load. They need to be above the weight of the tent plus anything else on the roof. Pay particular attention to the dynamic (driving) rating, which is usually lower than the static (parked) rating that applies when the tent is occupied.
- The tent's weight. The supplier's specifications don't list it. Check the weight shown for your option, and email us if you can't find it, before you order.
- Mounting size. The tent folds to 210 × 136 × 16 cm. Make sure that footprint fits your rack.
- Height. A folded tent adds height. Check clearances for garages, car parks and low branches.
- Ladder reach. The ladder is 2.3 m. Check that it suits the height of your vehicle.
- Mounting hardware. Check what's included for attaching the tent to your rack.

How a Hard Shell Rooftop Tent Works
- Mount it. Secure the tent to your roof rack with suitable mounting hardware. Follow the instructions and check that everything is tight.
- Drive. The tent stays closed, folded to 16 cm high, while you travel.
- Open it. Park on level ground, release the latches and let the tent open. Extend the ladder.
- Sleep. Climb in. The mattress is already in place.
- Pack up. Fold the tent closed, secure the latches, stow the ladder.
Re-check the mounting bolts after your first drive and regularly afterwards.

- Ventilate. Single-layer tents can build up condensation, so open vents and windows.
- Park level. Even a slight tilt makes a night's sleep harder.
- Check the wind. Close the tent in strong wind.
- Secure the ladder before you drive.
- Don't overload. Keep within the tent's and your rack's limits.
